PITTSBURGH (April 4, 2023) — Today Highmark released an in-depth community report featuring community partnership success stories through its corporate giving and community involvement program, Highmark Bright Blue Futures. The multimedia report highlights Highmark’s various collaborative efforts with area nonprofits on initiatives aimed to improve the overall health and resilience of communities throughout the enterprise’s footprint.
Headquartered in Pittsburgh, Highmark is regionally focused in Pennsylvania, Delaware, West Virginia, and western and northeastern New York. The report details key initiatives in each region that have made tremendous impacts on the health and wellness of individuals, families, neighborhoods, and communities. Also featured are profiles of Highmark executives leading by example through meaningful community service, as well as articles highlighting Highmark’s large-scale community health and employee engagement programs, such as its Walk for a Healthy Community event, which takes place each May and June in Pennsylvania and Delaware.
“With our enterprise’s rich history of investing in our communities, the Highmark Bright Blue Futures program sets us up to continue the path of building stronger, brighter futures for all within our footprint and as we expand into new regions,” said Dan Onorato, executive vice president and chief corporate affairs officer at Highmark Health. “This community report offers a snapshot of our continued collaborative efforts to improve the overall health and well-being of our neighbors and communities.”
The Highmark Bright Blue Futures program is designed to ensure healthier, brighter, stronger futures for all, and it focuses on improving equitable access to care, quality of life, and economic resilience in the communities the enterprise serves. Specifically, this program aims to improve outcomes in two critical areas: Community Health and Community and Economic Resilience through corporate giving and employee volunteerism.
“At Highmark, we’ve always believed working together is key to achieving meaningful, lasting outcomes that make positive impacts on individuals, families, and communities,” said Kenya T. Boswell, senior vice president of Community Affairs for Highmark Health. “We are thrilled to share this Highmark Bright Blue Futures community report that showcases our recent hands-on community involvement through collaboration, giving and volunteering.”
