Highmark encourages consumers to prepare for Medicare Advantage annual enrollment period

(October 5, 2024) — The Annual Enrollment Period (AEP) for Medicare begins on Oct. 15, and with recent changes by the federal government that may affect Medicare Advantage benefits across the industry, Highmark is urging consumers to be informed going into 2025.

“Each Annual Enrollment Period, we encourage everyone to review their benefits to make sure their plan is working well for their needs,” said Ellen Galardy, Highmark’s President of Medicare Business. “At Highmark, we have prioritized maintaining benefits that our members have told us are important to them.”

Highmark will launch new plans in select markets and continues to offer a variety of plans that fit different needs and budgets. Highmark features plans with benefits such as: 

  • $0 copays for PCP visits, lab tests, and generic prescription drugs
  • Dental, vision and hearing coverage
  • Money back on Social Security payments
  • Coverage for over-the-counter items like pain relievers and vitamins

In 2025, Highmark will switch to FitOn Health, a leading fitness company, to manage its fitness benefit for all Medicare Advantage plans. In addition to offering members access to their favorite gyms, the new fitness program provides access to a wide variety of other fitness classes and services, such as yoga and Pilates, across the country. FitOn Health also offers one of the most-downloaded fitness apps, with access to a robust library of digital fitness and wellness content free to Highmark members.
