Buffalo, N.Y. (February 25, 2025) — In recognition of National Children's Dental Health Month (NCDHM), Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield employees assembled over 500 dental hygiene kits for children in East Buffalo, which will distributed through Say Yes Buffalo and the Community Foundation.
Last year alone, Highmark employees contributed nearly 2,000 volunteer hours to initiatives that enhance the health of its community members.
Experts emphasize that good pediatric oral health is critical for overall health and development, impacting everything from a child's ability to learn and concentrate to their long-term physical well-being. The kits assembled today include toothpaste, toothbrushes, covers, floss, and other educational materials that support overall oral wellness.

"This initiative, particularly during National Children's Dental Health Month, perfectly illustrates their commitment to improving the health and well-being of children in our community.”
Today’s event builds upon Highmark's ongoing commitment to children’s health. Last year, Highmark, in partnership with United Concordia Dental, the University of Buffalo School of Dental Medicine, Team Smile, and the Buffalo Bills, hosted a free pediatric dental clinic at Highmark Stadium. This successful event connected hundreds of underserved children, including those with intellectual and developmental disabilities, with free dental and preventative care services. This year’s event will be held on April 4, 2025, at Highmark Stadium.
National Children's Dental Health Month, led by the American Dental Association (ADA), highlights the importance of regular dental checkups and proper brushing techniques for children. Highmark's initiative underscores the company's dedication to supporting the ADA's mission and fostering healthy smiles for generations to come.
