We understand how frustrating it is to wait. Especially when you need health care.

That’s why we work with providers who offer same-day appointments.

Our Health Care Advocates can help you with scheduling. Just call 412-DOCTORS (412-362-8677) by 11 AM. You’ll be offered a same-day appointment with the right caregiver for your needs.

FAQs

  • Call 412-DOCTORS (412-362-8677). Have your insurance card ready. Our Health Care Advocates will get the process started.
  • Provide basic information, such as your address, phone number, and health insurance.
  • Answer a few questions about your symptoms. This helps to determine the most appropriate caregiver to treat you.
  • In most cases, your appointment can be scheduled using this information.
  • If you have a complex or chronic medical condition, a nurse trained in patient care may handle your call.
  • Same-day appointments are scheduled on a first come, first served basis.
  • Primary care doctors, their physician assistants, and nurse practitioners are available for same-day appointments.
  • Over 20 specialties offer same-day appointments, including heart care, cancer care, and women's health.
  • Appointments with behavioral health specialists can be limited.

The doctor you request may not be available on the day you call. You'll be offered an appointment with a doctor, specialist, physician assistant, or nurse practitioner who has an available appointment.

If you need care as soon as possible, go to the nearest emergency room. Or dial 911.

You must call by 11 a.m. Monday - Friday to get an appointment that same day. Appointments with behavioral health specialists can be limited.

  • Our Health Care Advocates are available 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. Mon. - Fri. Just call in by 11 a.m. for help scheduling a same-day appointment.
  • If you call after 11 a.m. or over the weekend, our Health Care Advocates will work to find the next available appointment that's convenient for you.

A same-day appointment may not be available if you request to see a specific doctor, including your primary care physician. Health Care Advocates can help schedule the next available appointment with your doctor.

Walk-ins are welcome for X-rays and lab work at some freestanding clinics. Health Care Advocates can help locate one near you. You'll need to schedule ahead for procedures, including MRIs, CTs, mammograms, and surgeries.

Always check whether you need a referral for a specialty same-day appointment. Review your benefits or ask a Health Care Advocate for help.
